Local service deadlock via unsanitized nickname
Published Jul 14, 2023 · Updated Oct 22, 2024
Improper input validation in Savoir-faire Linux Jami 20222284 allows local users to deadlock the Windows client via a crafted nickname. The profile-management nickname field accepts angle-bracketed text without full sanitization, so signature creation cannot complete and the client deadlocks. Editing the local account's nickname is required; the deadlock prevents that account from sending or receiving messages.
