CVE-2023-34301

Code execution via unvalidated CO-file pointer dereference

Published May 3, 2024 · Updated Sep 18, 2024

Untrusted pointer dereference in Ashlar-Vellum Cobalt before 12.0.1204.54 allows remote attackers to execute code via a crafted CO file. The CO-file parser dereferences a user-supplied value as a pointer without validating that the value identifies a safe memory location. Exploitation requires opening the file or visiting a malicious page, and successful code runs in the context of the current process.
