Code execution via 3DS parser buffer overwrite
Published May 3, 2024 · Updated Sep 18, 2024
Out-of-bounds write in Ashlar-Vellum Cobalt before 12.0.1204.54 allows remote attackers to execute code via a crafted 3DS file. The 3DS parser fails to validate user-supplied data before writing it to an allocated buffer, allowing a write past the buffer boundary. Exploitation requires the target to visit a malicious page or open a malicious file, and successful corruption runs attacker code in the current process.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
