Unauthenticated code execution via default-key password recovery
Published May 31, 2023 · Updated Jan 8, 2025
Information disclosure in BMC PATROL Agent before 22.1.00 allows remote attackers to recover a service password and execute code. The unauthenticated pconfig interface returns the encrypted PATROL account password, and affected agents protect it with the same embedded AES key. Default remote configuration access exposes the secret, which authenticates to the agent service and permits command execution as the PATROL account.
