CVE-2023-34230Network attack vector

Code execution via shell-interpreted SSO URL

Published Jun 8, 2023 · Updated Jan 6, 2025

Command injection in Snowflake Connector for .NET before 2.0.18 allows remote attackers to execute code through a malicious SSO URL. ExternalBrowserAuthenticator.StartBrowser passes the server-supplied SSO URL to cmd.exe through Process.Start after escaping only ampersands, leaving other shell metacharacters executable. Exploitation requires a malicious authentication resource and a user redirected to its crafted connection URL; the resulting commands run on the user's Windows host.
