CVE-2023-34205Network attack vector

Signature validation bypass via raw XML reparsing

Published May 30, 2023 · Updated Jan 10, 2025

Signature validation bypass in Validator.Validate in Moov signedxml before 1.1.0 allows attackers to have altered XML accepted as authentic. The method canonicalizes XML for signature verification but does not return that canonical form, so later parsing of the original XML can select different wrapped content. Exploitation requires a consuming application to call Validator.Validate on attacker-controlled XML and then parse the original document, allowing substituted content to inherit trust from validly signed content.
