CVE-2023-3420Known exploitationPublic exploitNetwork attack vector

Renderer code execution via mis-modeled stack checks

Published Jun 26, 2023 · Updated May 5, 2025

Type confusion in V8 in Google Chrome before 114.0.5735.198 allows remote attackers to execute code in the renderer via a crafted page. V8 marks JSStackCheck as side-effect-free even though its interrupt path can alter an object's map, causing JIT map-check elimination to use an incompatible type. A victim must visit the malicious page, and resulting code execution remains inside Chrome's renderer sandbox.
