CVE-2023-34153Public exploit

Shell command execution via unquoted VIDEO options

Published May 30, 2023 · Updated Jan 10, 2025

Command injection in ImageMagick 7 before 7.1.1-10 allows context-dependent attackers to execute shell commands through VIDEO options. The VIDEO reader and writer concatenate video:vsync or video:pixel-format values into delegate commands without shell-safe quoting. Exploitation requires a user or integrating application to process VIDEO content with an attacker-controlled define; commands run with ImageMagick process privileges.
