CVE-2023-34152Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Command execution via incompletely sanitized pipe filenames

Published May 30, 2023 · Updated Jan 13, 2025

Command injection in ImageMagick 6.7 allows attackers to execute shell commands through pipe-prefixed filenames when pipes are enabled. OpenBlob applies SanitizeString before passing the filename to popen_utf8, but the filter leaves backticks and double quotes available for shell interpretation. The non-default --enable-pipes build option is required, and commands run with the privileges of the process handling the crafted filename.
