SYSTEM code execution via exposed NT Listener function
Published Jun 26, 2023 · Updated Dec 4, 2024
Incorrect authorization in the Trend Micro Apex One 2019 Security Agent before 14.0.0.12033 allows local users to execute code as SYSTEM. The NT Listener service exposes a dangerous function that accepts low-privilege requests and writes attacker-chosen values to protected agent registry subkeys. Low-privileged code execution on a Windows endpoint is required; successful exploitation grants SYSTEM privileges and control over agent configuration.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
