CVE-2023-3413Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Restricted source-code disclosure via missing read_code authorization

Published Sep 29, 2023 · Updated Nov 20, 2025

Improper authorization in GitLab allows remote authenticated users to read restricted project source code through a preexisting fork. The repository commits API checks read_project on start_project but omits read_code before accepting an upstream branch as a commit source. An attacker needs an account and a fork created while the project was public; affected releases are 16.2 through 16.2.7, 16.3 through 16.3.4, and 16.4.0, and the impact is source-code disclosure only.
