CVE-2023-34128

Root code execution via static Tomcat credentials

Published Jul 13, 2023 · Updated Oct 31, 2024

Hardcoded Tomcat credentials in SonicWall GMS 9.3.2-SP1 and earlier and Analytics 2.5.0.4-R7 and earlier allow local users to execute code as root. Static appuser credentials stored in application code and users.xml authenticate to the localhost-only Tomcat manager, which accepts malicious WAR deployment. Exploitation requires low-privileged host access or a separate path such as SSRF or traffic tunneling to reach the manager; successful use grants root-level code execution.
