Root file writes via unsanitized upload parameters
Published Jul 13, 2023 · Updated Oct 31, 2024
Arbitrary file upload in SonicWall GMS 9.3.2-SP1 and earlier and Analytics 2.5.0.4-R7 and earlier lets remote authenticated users write as root. The upload handler fails to sanitize user-controlled parameters and accepts attacker-selected filesystem destinations. Administrative access is required, and a successful upload can place a web shell that executes code with root privileges.
