Authenticated arbitrary file write via path traversal
Published Jun 8, 2023 · Updated Feb 13, 2025
Path traversal in Thruk 3.06 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to write arbitrary files via a crafted upload location. The Panorama controller concatenates the unsanitized location parameter with the uploaded filename, then moves the file to the resulting path. Access to the dashboard background-image upload form is required; writes are limited to paths writable by the Thruk process and can overwrite files or fill disk space.
