CVE-2023-34095Network attack vector

Stack overwrite via unbounded scanf input

Published Jun 14, 2023 · Updated Feb 13, 2025

Stack-based buffer overflow in OpenPrinting cpdb-libs 1.0 through 2.0b4 allows attackers to overwrite process memory via oversized input. The cpdbCreateBackendFromFile function and text frontend pass unbounded %s conversions to fscanf() and scanf(), copying strings longer than 1023 characters into 1024-byte stack buffers. The affected parser must consume an oversized command or configuration token; the result is stack memory corruption, while public sources do not establish reliable code execution.
