CVE-2023-34092Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Sensitive file disclosure via double-slash path parsing

Published Jun 1, 2023 · Updated Jan 8, 2025

Path resolution in the Vite dev server allows remote attackers to read sensitive project-root files through crafted HTTP paths. The static and raw-file middleware pass multiple leading slashes into URL parsing without first reducing them to one, so server.fs.deny evaluates a different path representation than the file-serving logic. Exploitation requires a dev server exposed with --host or server.host and discloses only files in the immediate project root.
