CVE-2023-34048Known exploitationNetwork attack vector

Unauthenticated code execution via DCERPC out-of-bounds write

Published Oct 25, 2023 · Updated Oct 21, 2025

Out-of-bounds write in DCERPC handling in VMware vCenter Server 7.0 and 8.0 allows remote attackers to execute code over the network. The DCERPC implementation writes beyond its intended memory bounds when processing crafted protocol input; VMware has not disclosed the affected routine or field. Network reachability alone is sufficient, including for the embedded vCenter Server in Cloud Foundation 4.x and 5.x; successful exploitation executes code in the server context.
