Authenticated JavaScript execution via unescaped external-link URL
Published Jun 5, 2023 · Updated Jan 8, 2025
Stored XSS in Kanboard 1.2.29 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to execute JavaScript when a user views a malicious task. The task external-link table and board-tooltip templates place the stored link URL directly in an href attribute without HTML escaping. Exploitation requires permission to add or edit a task link and a viewer; the default CSP blocks JavaScript, while a permissive CSP exposes the viewer's Kanboard session and actions.
