Account creation via disabled email verification
Published May 24, 2023 · Updated Oct 22, 2024
Insecure defaults in Liferay Portal 7.3.0 and earlier and Liferay DXP 7.2 and earlier allow remote attackers to create unverified accounts. The company.security.strangers.verify portal property defaults to false, so registration accepts an address without proving that the registrant controls it. Unauthenticated network access to self-registration is sufficient, and the resulting account can claim an email address controlled by another party.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
