CVE-2023-33838Network attack vector

Sensitive-data disclosure via unsalted one-way hashing

Published Jan 29, 2025 · Updated Feb 12, 2025

Use of an unsalted hash in IBM Security Verify Governance Identity Manager 10.0.2 allows remote authenticated users to recover sensitive input. The affected hashing locus omits a unique salt when hashing sensitive values such as passwords, enabling precomputed comparisons across identical inputs. Exploitation requires high privileges and high complexity over the network, and the published consequence is confidentiality loss only.
