Local command execution via factory shell script
Published Apr 15, 2024 · Updated Aug 2, 2024
Command injection in Hikvision DS-D5B86RB/B firmware 2.3.0 build220119 allows local users to execute arbitrary commands. The factory menu's Execute Shell action runs /storage/emulated/0/_MSTFactory/MScript.sh, allowing commands placed in that shared-storage file to execute. Access requires opening device settings, repeatedly tapping Device Firmware Version, creating the directory and script, and invoking Execute Shell; exploitation grants command execution on the tablet.
