Stored XSS via unescaped contact-role name rendering
Published May 24, 2023 · Updated Nov 27, 2024
Stored XSS in NetBox 3.5.1 allows remote authenticated users to execute script in another user’s browser through a contact-role name. The Create Contact Roles form stores the Name value, and the contact-assignment bulk-edit view renders that value without neutralizing HTML event handlers. The attacker needs permission to create contact roles, and a victim must open an affected role-selection view; the script then runs in that victim’s session.
