CVE-2023-3379

Non-root privilege escalation via cross-account password changes

Published Nov 20, 2023 · Updated Oct 2, 2024

Incorrect authorization in affected WAGO controller and panel firmware allows local users with WBM access to change non-admin passwords. The Web-Based Management password operation fails to restrict an authenticated user to changing only that user's own password. A low-privileged local account is required, and exploitation takes over peer non-admin accounts and gains their non-root privileges without granting administrator or root access.
