Root code execution via EditvsList stack overflow
Published May 31, 2023 · Updated Jan 16, 2025
Stack overflow in H3C Magic R300 firmware R300-2100MV100R004 allows remote authenticated users to crash its management web process. The EditvsList handler passes the param value to getElement, which accepts up to 64 bytes, then stores the result in a 20-byte local buffer. Administrator access to the router web interface is required; a crafted POST crashes the service, and the disclosure states that a custom exploit grants a root shell.
