CVE-2023-3342Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Remote code execution via encrypted filename tampering

Published Jul 13, 2023 · Updated Apr 8, 2026

Arbitrary file upload in WPEverest User Registration & Membership 3.0.2 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to execute PHP code. The ur_upload_profile_pic function decrypts attacker-controlled upload_files metadata with a shared hardcoded key, then renames and moves the temporary image without validating its resulting extension. Subscriber-level access to an enabled profile-picture workflow is sufficient to place and invoke a PHP backdoor on the WordPress server.
