Remote command execution via set firewall injection
Published Aug 4, 2023 · Updated Oct 17, 2024
OS command injection in ConnectedIO ER2000 2.1.0 and earlier allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary commands through its protocol. The device-side communication handler incorporates attacker-controlled set firewall content into an operating-system command without neutralizing command syntax. Remote delivery requires access to the device's MQTT receive topic, which the disclosed chain obtained through shared broker credentials and permissive topic access.
