Installed-app disclosure via permissive localhost CORS
Published May 22, 2023 · Updated Jan 21, 2025
Information disclosure in KaiOS 3.0 and 3.1 allows remote attackers to read installed-app names and versions through the browser. The api-daemon localhost server returns each app's manifest.webmanifest with permissive CORS headers and no origin check. A browser context running attacker-controlled fetch requests is required, and the disclosed inventory supports device fingerprinting and targeted phishing.
