Unauthenticated WAR deployment via upgrade endpoint
Published May 26, 2023 · Updated Jan 16, 2025
Missing authentication in Talend Data Catalog before 8.0-20230413 allows remote attackers to deploy a WAR through the harvesting server. The remote harvesting server's /upgrade endpoint accepts and deploys an attacker-supplied WAR without requiring authentication. The endpoint is intended to accept traffic only from the Talend Data Catalog server; broader network access exposes unauthorized application deployment.
