Unauthenticated command execution via configuration updates
Published May 24, 2023 · Updated Oct 21, 2025
Code injection in Apache RocketMQ 5.1.0 and earlier allows remote attackers to execute commands through exposed server components. NameServer, Broker, and Controller accept unauthenticated configuration updates or forged RocketMQ protocol content that places attacker-controlled values in command execution paths. Network access to an exposed component is sufficient, and commands run with the privileges of the operating-system account hosting RocketMQ.
