Code execution via writable project directory
Published Jul 24, 2023 · Updated Oct 18, 2024
Incorrect default permissions in ABB Ability zenon 11 builds through 106404 allow local users to execute code through altered projects. The default ACL on the Engineering Studio zenon_Projects workspace grants non-administrative users write access, letting them replace project content that the Service Engine loads. Exploitation requires low-privileged host access, obtained physically or through remote login, and execution occurs when the altered project is loaded.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
