Local code execution via writable service executable
Published Jul 24, 2023 · Updated Oct 24, 2024
Incorrect permissions in ABB Ability zenon 11 through build 106404 allow local users to execute code by replacing a service executable. Weak default permissions on the ABB Utilities directory let low-privileged users overwrite the zenonHelpCheck Windows service executable with a crafted program. Exploitation requires a low-privileged account on an affected Windows host and can alter zenon runtime activity in the service's execution context.
