Permanent service loss via unchecked firmware package

Improper input validation in affected IDEMIA biometric terminals allows remote attackers to cause unrecoverable service loss via firmware upgrade. The firmware upgrade mechanism accepts an upgrade package without an integrity check, allowing manipulated input to leave the terminal permanently inoperable. Network reachability is sufficient without enforced security, while the default enforced-security or mTLS configuration requires administrative privileges; recovery requires return to the manufacturer.
