Stored XSS via unescaped asset-index paths
Published May 26, 2023 · Updated Jan 14, 2025
Stored XSS in Craft CMS 4.0.0-RC1 through 4.4.6 allows remote authenticated users to run script in a reviewer's browser. The asset-index review dialog inserts skipped and missing file paths into HTML without escaping, so a crafted asset-volume name becomes executable markup. An authenticated user must create a malicious asset volume, and another control-panel user must run asset indexing and open Review; execution remains in that user's browser context.
