Authenticated script execution via unescaped feed title
Published May 27, 2023 · Updated Jan 14, 2025
Cross-site scripting in the RSS widget in Pixel & Tonic Craft CMS 4.3.0 through 4.4.5 allows remote authenticated users to run script. The externalLink Twig macro concatenates an RSS item title into anchor HTML without escaping it, so markup from a malformed feed is interpreted by the control-panel browser. Access to configure an RSS dashboard widget and a feed containing a crafted item title are required; script runs in the widget viewer's session.
