Stored XSS via unescaped Quick Post errors
Published May 26, 2023 · Updated Jan 14, 2025
Stored XSS in Craft CMS 3.0.0 through 3.8.5 and 4.0.0-RC1 through 4.4.5 allows remote authenticated users to run script. QuickPostWidget.js concatenates server-returned validation errors into an HTML list item, so a crafted section label is parsed as markup. An authenticated user must store the label, and a control-panel user must submit a blank Quick Post slug; the script then runs in that user's browser.
