Administrative access via spoofed proxy headers
Published May 30, 2023 · Updated Jan 10, 2025
Authentication bypass in Emby Server before 4.7.12 and beta before 4.8.0.31 allows remote attackers to gain administrative access. The server trusts spoofable reverse-proxy headers when classifying a remote request as local, weakening login rules and exposing public user listings. Exploitation requires a publicly accessible server and an administrative account configured for passwordless local-network sign-in or an empty password.
