CVE-2023-3313

Local privilege escalation via certificate API injection

Published Jul 3, 2023 · Updated Nov 22, 2024

OS command injection in the certificate API in Trellix Enterprise Security Manager 11.6.3 allows local users to execute arbitrary commands. The API fails to neutralize shell metacharacters before incorporating certificate-related input into an operating-system command. Low-privileged local access is sufficient to inject commands, enabling privilege escalation and arbitrary command execution on the ESM appliance.
