CVE-2023-32997Network attack vector

Administrator access via retained pre-login session

Published May 16, 2023 · Updated Jan 23, 2025

Session fixation in Jenkins CAS Plugin 1.6.2 and earlier allows remote attackers to gain administrator access through social engineering. CasAuthenticationFilter lacked a session-authentication strategy, so successful CAS login preserved the pre-login session instead of replacing it. The attacker must establish a session identifier and induce a Jenkins administrator to authenticate with that session, after which the retained identifier yields the administrator's access.
