CVE-2023-32955

Network-adjacent root command execution via unvalidated dhcpd input

Published May 16, 2023 · Updated Jan 22, 2025

OS command injection in SRM 1.2 before 1.2.5-8227-6 and SRM 1.3 before 1.3.1-9346-3 allows man-in-the-middle attackers to run commands. The dhcpd binary passes a user-supplied string to a system call without adequate validation, allowing injected input to execute as root. Exploitation requires a network-adjacent position capable of manipulating DHCP traffic; success compromises the router's data, configuration, and operation.
