Local privilege escalation via missing display bounds check
Published Dec 4, 2023 · Updated Dec 2, 2024
Out-of-bounds write in MediaTek display DRM on Android 12.0 and 13.0 allows local users to escalate privileges via an unchecked write. The display DRM component can write beyond a buffer because it omits a bounds check before performing the write. Exploitation requires System execution privileges and no user interaction, with memory corruption confined to the affected display path.
