Local privilege escalation via display DRM bounds error
Published Dec 4, 2023 · Updated Aug 28, 2024
Out-of-bounds write in MediaTek display DRM on Android 12.0 and 13.0 allows local users with System privileges to escalate privileges. The display DRM component applies an incorrect bounds check before a write, allowing data to be written beyond the intended buffer. Exploitation requires existing System execution privileges, needs no user interaction, and can elevate code within the device.
