Type confusion in MediaTek MT6885 vdec on Android 11.0 through 13.0 allows local users with System privileges to gain higher privileges. The vdec component makes an incorrect comparison during type handling, causing an out-of-bounds write. Exploitation requires existing System execution privileges but no user interaction; the resulting memory corruption can raise local privileges.
