Local privilege escalation via APUSYS integer overflow
Published Oct 2, 2023 · Updated Sep 21, 2024
Out-of-bounds write in MediaTek APUSYS allows local users with System privileges to escalate privileges via crafted input. An overflowing integer calculation causes APUSYS to perform a write outside the intended memory bounds; MediaTek has not disclosed the affected function. Affected software includes Android 12.0 and 13.0, Yocto 3.1, 3.3, and 4.0, and IOT-v23.0; exploitation needs no user interaction.
