CVE-2023-32812

Local privilege escalation via GNSS out-of-bounds write

Published Sep 4, 2023 · Updated Oct 21, 2024

Improper input validation in MediaTek MT8365 GNSS service allows local users with System privileges to escalate privileges. The service inadequately validates input before writing to memory, allowing data beyond the intended buffer; MediaTek has not disclosed the affected function or input field. Exploitation requires existing System execution privileges on the device, needs no user interaction, and elevates privileges locally; no remote vector is reported.
