Administrator file disclosure via unvalidated block view path
Published Oct 16, 2023 · Updated Apr 23, 2025
Path traversal in NextGEN Gallery before 3.39 allows remote authenticated users with administrator access to read local files. The block renderer accepts a traversal sequence in the Select View attribute, builds a filesystem path from it, and passes that path to a PHP include operation without validation. An administrator must create or edit a gallery block and save the crafted view; loading the page then discloses the selected server-side file.
