CVE-2023-32778Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Remote code execution via executable-renaming bypass

Published Sep 14, 2026 · Updated Sep 14, 2026

Code execution in ILIAS 6.23, 7 before 7.22, and 8.1 allows remote authenticated users to run server commands via ZIP upload. The ilUtil::rRenameSuffix routine attempts to rename a crafted three-dot entry to the parent directory; the resulting uncaught warning aborts executable-extension sanitization and leaves an uploaded PHP file runnable. An account able to create a MediaObject and upload and unzip its files is required, and successful exploitation executes code as the web application user.
