Sensitive file disclosure via URL path traversal
Published May 17, 2023 · Updated Jan 22, 2025
Path traversal in Symcon IP-Symcon before 6.3 allows remote attackers to read sensitive files through crafted web requests. The web interface accepts .. sequences in the URL without constraining the resolved path to the web root, so requests can retrieve files such as /etc/shadow. No authentication or user interaction is required, and the root-privileged service exposes any readable host file.
