Cross-site scripting via unrestricted redirect schemes
Published Jun 5, 2023 · Updated Jan 31, 2025
Cross-site scripting in Gitpod before 2022.11.3 allows remote attackers to execute script in a user's browser via a crafted desktop link. IDEFrontendService accepted every non-HTTP(S) URL scheme as a desktop redirect instead of limiting redirects to trusted IDE protocols. Exploitation requires a user to follow the crafted link, allowing browser-context data access or actions without interrupting service.
