Local file disclosure via enabled external entities
Published Jun 15, 2023 · Updated Nov 21, 2024
XXE in Hutool XML Parsing Module 5.8.0 through 5.8.19 allows remote attackers to read local files via crafted XML input. XmlUtil.readBySax creates a SAXParserFactory without disabling external DTD or entity resolution, so a malicious DTD can fetch a file and exfiltrate it over HTTP. Exploitation requires a consuming application to pass attacker-controlled XML to readBySax and allow outbound requests from the parser.
