Privilege escalation via unchecked external-user role assignments
Published Jun 8, 2023 · Updated Jan 6, 2025
Privilege escalation in Pydio Cells 4.1.2 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to access shared workspaces via role injection. The external-user creation endpoint accepts attacker-supplied role UUIDs in the Roles array and applies them without limiting a regular user's assignments. Any regular account can create a second account with every role when external-user creation is enabled, exposing all cells and non-personal workspaces.
